ES Competition Rules

The competition runs from 00.01BST 5th JULY 2010 until 23.59 BST 4th SEPTEMBER 2010 (but see below)

THE THEME

It will be called Even Simpler - ES

THE PRIZES

TWO winning videos will be chosen by the external independent panel and each winning video will receive a cash prize of £50

Members can only win one prize so if you intend uploading a collaboration video on your channel then you must be aware that you are responsible for any financial sharing arrangements should it win and any solo video you may have uploaded would not be eligible for a prize in such an event -equally if your solo video were to win then the collab would not be eligible for a prize to be paid to you-although could be to your collaborator subject to the same restriction

THE RULES

ANY video uploaded/embedded to BTV between 00.01 BST 5th July 2010 and 23.59 BST 4th September 2010 will be eligible PROVIDING it complies with BTV site rules (that’s easy because they get deleted if they don’t!)

The Video MUST NOT previously have been uploaded/embedded to BTV prior to 5th July 2010

If you have an old video on Youtube/Vimeo/Facebook/Myspace you can enter it providing it has not been on the BTV site prior to 5th July 2010

Embeds are permitted from other sites see below for comments about embedding and uploading - although BTV reserve the right to keep copies of these for future use

All Videos will automatically be entered into the competition this will be confirmed by ES as part of the title and as a tag, DO NOT use brackets round the ES it will not show in searches if you do

GREEN SCREEN AND SPECIAL EFFECT CAN BE USED IF YOU WISH

Entries will be downloaded from this website to a memory stick at the end of the competition.

Competition is open to all members

YOU MAY ENTER AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE DURING THE PERIOD OF THE COMPETITION - PLEASE REMEMBER THE 3 VIDEOS PER MEMBER UPLOAD/EMBED PER DAY LIMIT

UPLOADING

Please note that the uploader has a limit of 100 mb-although that will allow a 6 or 7 minute HD upload

IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY DIFFICULTY UPLOADING, PLEASE LET BILL OR ROGER KNOW (DIRECT OR VIA THE ADMIN PAGE) AND WE WILL SEEK A SOLUTION, EMBEDDING IS PERMITTED FOR COMPETITION VIDEOS BUT IT IS THE ENTRANTS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ANY EMBED IS AVAILABLE AT TIME OF JUDGING. THE WINNERS MUST AGREE TO ADMIN STAFF UPLOADING A COPY OF THEIR VIDEO TO THE BTV COMPETITION CHANNEL TO ENSURE IT REMAINS AVAILABLE FOR BTV MEMBERS TO SEE. YOU MAY, OF COURSE, KEEP THE ORIGINAL UPLOAD/EMBED ON YOUR OWN CHANNEL

GENERAL INFORMATION

All videos and competition entries can now be viewed by category using the Tabs above.

Click on the BTV Videos tab and a drop down menu appears so you will see all the ES entries in one place, there are other categories as well,

For all the latest information on the Competition click in the Competitions Tab above - you can also see the ES competition entries there too.

JUDGING

At the closing date of the competition all videos containing ES in the title and as a tag will be downloaded to a memory stick, verified and a confirmation email sent to the member uploading the video that it complies with the rules.

Judging is conducted using an independent external panel not connected with BTV they will only see the videos played out from the memory stick they will not see any comments, views or ratings which are shown on the website so videos will be judged entirely on their merits using a copy of the competition rules for direction.

They are also scrupulously honest and impartial as you will have seen in the slight delay announcing the result of a previous competition where they asked for better 'copies' of two videos which had seemingly been corrupted on the memory stick and did not play properly.

Video Views and comments made on the BTV website will have no bearing on the result they WILL NOT be seen by the judges.

The result will normally be announced within around two weeks of the end of the competition date. The date of which and the result will be posted on www.bedroomtv.com

PRIZE PAYMENT

THIS COMPETITION IS A PRIVATE VENTURE BY BILL PATTERSON  AND BTV MANAGEMENT ARE NOT INVOLVED-THE MONEY WILL BE PAID WITHIN 14 DAYS OF THE INDEPENDENT JUDGES DECISION BEING KNOWN SUBJECT TO THE WINNERS COMPLYING WITH THE EMAIL WHICH ADVISES THEM THAT THEY HAVE WON .THE WINNERS MUST AGREE TO BTV ADMIN STAFF UPLOADING COPIES OF THEIR VIDEO TO THE BTV COMPETITION CHANNEL-YOU MAY,OF COURSE, RETAIN THE ORIGINAL UPLOAD/EMBED ON YOUR OWN ONE THIS IS TO ENSURE THAT THE VIDEO REMAINS AVAILABLE TO BE VIEWED BY OTHERS IRRESPECTIVE OF ANY ACTION BY OTHERS IN REMOVING VIDEOS

THE PRIZE FUND IS ALREADY HELD IN A BANK ACCOUNT SO YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF A MINIMUM DELAY ONCE THE RESULT IS KNOWN

UK WINNING MEMBERS SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO A UK BANK/BUILDING SOCIETY ACCOUNT TO ENABLE PRIZE MONEY TO BE CREDITED TO THEIR ACCOUNT - INTERNATIONAL WINNING MEMBERS WILL BE PAID BY MONEYGRAM - We have in the past indicated that our competitions are open to everyone but that the cost of money transfer abroad would have to be deducted from any prize won by non UK residents. Further investigations have shown that there is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to transfer money abroad using the moneygram system-details can be found here: https://www.moneygram.com/MGI/EN/GB/Market/Market.htm?CC=GB&LC=EN The fee for this service is around £9 GBP for a transfer of £50 GBP - so an overseas winner would, effectively get a £41 GBP prize In the event that the transfer fee exceeds the prize, we would normally suggest the prize money is donated to a local UK charity-perhaps Cancer Research and that would be publically acknowledged We would need a full name, address and phone number to arrange any such transfer but you do not need a bank account to collect your winnings-details of your local pick up point can be found by keying in your country and address and finding out the nearest collection point So please go ahead and participate in our competitions.
